Identity theft is rapidly becoming a growth crime industry in North America. In the last three years it has expounded five fold and continues to increase.
The problem with identity theft is that it is almost impossible to police. The best way to deal with it is to prevent its occurrence.
The ID.LOCK® Security System we have developed is a result of an on-going litter problem in the City of Vancouver, B.C. Canada.
Historically, commercial waste containers/dumpsters have been locked with EXTERIOR chains and padlocks, all easily accessible with bolt cutters and crow bars, etc. In many cases document shredding does not work and only magnifies the littering problem.
The ID.LOCK® Security System is designed to resist bolt cutters and crow bars by pressuring the lids shut at three points, two ends and the centre, with a centre CONCEALED recessed padlock position. This is an alternative to the traditional single point lock position at either the centre or end of the container. As a result the ID.LOCK® Security System renders a commercial waste container virtually inaccessible to dumpster divers and the general public.
Over a four month period, we tested 32 commercial waste containers with the ID. LOCK® Security System. None of these containers have suffered serious unauthorized entry.
The initial problem was to stop the distribution of litter from the waste containers. Having eliminated most of the littering problem, we soon realized we were significantly reducing other problems such as identity theft.
On February 2, 2004 The City of Vancouver, B.C., Canada implemented a new program, whereby it is now mandatory that waste containers be locked in a manner approved by the City. To date the ID.LOCK® Security System is the only approved concealed lock.
PRIVACY: On January 1, 2004, the Government enacted a new 'Privacy Act' whereby those who own, lease or rent a waste container are directly responsible and liable for the contents in the waste container.
It is important for all of us to realize that the ID.LOCK® Security System reduces Identity theft and other associated problems. All of the benefits derived from the ID.LOCK® Security System clean up and improve our communities immensely.
The benefits of the ID.LOCK® Security System are too great to ignore.
For under $ 100. The ID.LOCK® Security System can fit most existing commercial waste containers. This does not include the cross pipe, padlock, installation, freight or applicable taxes.
